What SmartCarbonLedger Does
SmartCarbonLedger is a web application that converts renewable energy generation data (CSV/JSON) into audit-oriented carbon and ESG metrics reports. You upload data, configure a report, preview it, and optionally purchase a full PDF report with an audit bundle.
Data You Upload
Energy generation files you upload are processed entirely in your browser session and in short-lived server memory. We do not persist your uploaded data to any database or file system. Server-side sessions expire automatically after one hour.
Email Address
If you purchase a report, you provide an email address at checkout. This email is used solely to deliver your audit bundle via our email provider (Resend). We do not add you to any mailing list or share your email with third parties for marketing.
Payments
Payments are processed by Lemon Squeezy, a Merchant of Record. We do not store credit card numbers or billing details on our servers. Lemon Squeezy handles all payment data under their own privacy policy.
Analytics
We use PostHog for product analytics to understand how the application is used and to improve it. Analytics events are anonymised and do not contain your uploaded data. You can block analytics by using a standard ad-blocker or browser privacy setting.
Error Monitoring
We use Sentry to capture application errors. Error reports may include technical context (browser type, page URL, stack traces) but do not include your uploaded energy data or personal information.
Cookies
SmartCarbonLedger uses a single first-party cookie (cl_notice) to remember that you have dismissed the privacy notice banner. No third-party tracking cookies are set by us.
Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share your data with advertisers. The only third parties that receive data are Lemon Squeezy (payment), Resend (email delivery), PostHog (anonymised analytics), and Sentry (error monitoring).
Your Rights
Since we do not persist your uploaded data or maintain user accounts, there is minimal personal data to manage. If you have questions or wish to exercise data rights under GDPR or UK GDPR, contact us at privacy@viva-tech.co.uk.

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected in the “Last updated” date above.
